Hun Manet Thanks Outgoing Australian Ambassador for Improving Cambodia-Australia Relations

PHNOM PENH: The Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) and Commander of the Army, Lt. Gen. Hun Manet, has thanked the outgoing Australian Ambassador, Pablo Kang, for enhancing Cambodia-Australia relations, achieving closer ties and many other achievements in the last three years of his diplomatic mandate.

During a meeting on Tuesday morning, 3 January 2023, before Ambassador Pablo Kang leaves Cambodia, Lt. Gen. Hun Manet extended his congratulations to Cambodia and Australia on commemorating the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2022, which promoted the further development of friendship and cooperation in all fields between the two countries.

He also gave particular emphasis to the improved military cooperation between the two nations, particularly in the fields of training and human resource development, as evidenced by stronger ties between both countries' military units.

Ambassador Kang also praised the good cooperation between the two countries, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

He expressed his appreciation for Cambodia's rapid development in all fields, as well as the sound national security provided by the RCAF. He further thanked the Royal Government and Cambodian people for their warm reception during his diplomatic mission in Cambodia.

Since January 2020, Pablo Kang has represented Australia as its Ambassador to Cambodia. He was Australia's Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates from 2012 to 2016 and the Australian High Commissioner to Vanuatu from 2009 to 2010.
